(Loreen Bliss, Tim Bliss, J. Marc Bailey, Heidi Olsen, BMI, 2004) Crayon Heart was written for my kids. I think every parent can relate to this song. There really is a crayon heart on my wall right now. You can even see the culprit at work. (After the fact, of course. My oldest daughter made it a cute picture though.)

Starin’ at the drawings all over the wall, . . . I could just cry
Freshly painted white, just two days ago - Sometimes a mom could wonder why
Paintbrush in hand, time to start again
Then down in the corner I see - A Little Crayon Heart
A Little Crayon Heart all drawn in red
With “I Love Mommy” in the middle
A Little Crayon Heart, no feelings unsaid
Drawn by hands so little
Sittin’ on the floor, starin’ at that heart, lettin’ go of built up tears
Thinkin’ ‘bout my kids and how fast they grow - I don’t want any wasted years
Paintbrush in hand I paint the wall white
But I just can’t paint that corner, That Little Crayon Heart
A Little Crayon Heart all drawn in red
With “I Love Mommy” in the middle
A Little Crayon Heart, no feelings unsaid
Drawn by hands so little
With her back seat full I watch her drive away
My little girl just couldn’t stay, but I’ll always have her heart
Her Little Crayon Heart now faded red
With “I Love Mommy” in the middle
Her Little Crayon Heart, we left no feelings unsaid
Drawn by hands so little
Her Little Crayon Heart
